10. Ca' d'Oro, by da Cusighe

Ca' d'Oro

This tempera on wood is signed and dated (1394) by Simone da Cusighe. It depicts the life and death of San Bartolomeo in eight panels that surround a central image of the Madonna della Misericordia. The crowned Virgin holds the cloak under which several monks seek protection. On her chest is Christ in a mandorla. This panel was originally in the church of San Bartolomeo a Salce (Belluno).
